Guangdong Innovative Radar Collaborative Network Observation | "Wisdom Eye" Identifies the Traces of Strong Convective Weather
Developing world-leading multi-beam X-band and C-band dual-polarization phased array radars, conducting collaborative observation tests of multiple types of equipment networking, overcoming the difficulties of insufficient spatiotemporal resolution in tornado monitoring, realizing intelligent identification and rapid warning of tornadoes, is a "hard nut to crack" that the Guangdong Provincial Meteorological Bureau's meteorological detection innovation team must tackle now and in the next few years. In 2020, led by Ao Zhenlang, the chief technical expert of the Guangdong Provincial Meteorological Bureau, the Provincial Meteorological Detection Data Center, in collaboration with Zhuhai Naruida Radar Technology Co., Ltd., the Chinese Academy of Meteorological Sciences, and other units, formed a project team to carry out scientific research under the Guangdong Provincial Key R&D Program. The aim is to develop multi-beam dual-polarization phased array radar and its application in tornado detection operations, focusing on solving "bottleneck" technical problems in tornado detection equipment, observation methods, intelligent identification, and rapid warning.
